When are the EIC Accelerator cut-offs in 2026, and what are the odds?
According to the EIC Work Programme 2026, the cut-offs for full proposals are 7 January, 4 March, 6 May, 8 July, 2 September and 4 November 2026. Short proposals can be sent at any time. The EIC does not publish a success rate; calculated from its own figures for the October 2025 cut-off, 6.6% of full proposals were funded.

This guide is for a founder planning an application to the EIC Accelerator, the European Union's programme for startups and small companies with breakthrough technology. It is run by the European Innovation Council, the EIC. The guide lists the dates for 2026, explains the stages, and shows what the published numbers say about the chances.
Whether a company from outside the EU can apply at all is covered in can a company from outside the EU apply to the EIC Accelerator.

When are the 2026 cut-offs?
According to the EIC Work Programme 2026, full proposals can be submitted up to six cut-off dates: 7 January, 4 March, 6 May, 8 July, 2 September and 4 November 2026. On 12 October 2026, when this page was last checked, only 4 November was still ahead, which leaves about three weeks to prepare a full proposal. The Commission can move a cut-off by up to two months.

How does the process work?
In three stages. According to the EIC, a short proposal can be sent at any time and gets a result in about 4 to 6 weeks. The full proposal, of up to 20 pages, goes to a cut-off and gets a result about 8 to 9 weeks later. The last stage is an interview with a jury, and only the full proposal and the interview are tied to dates.
- Short proposal. Proposals are collected and sent for evaluation on the first Tuesday of each month. Four experts assess each one, and at least three have to give a go.
- Full proposal. Up to 20 pages, including an online meeting with a technology expert. Results come about 8 to 9 weeks after the date the proposals were sent for evaluation.
- Interview. The EIC holds interview sessions three times a year and invites companies at least 2 weeks in advance. The interview takes place in Brussels or by video: a 10-minute pitch and 35 minutes of questions. The result follows about 2 to 3 weeks later.

What are the odds?
The EIC does not publish a success rate. Calculated from two EIC publications on the cut-off of 1 October 2025, 923 companies submitted a full proposal, 121 reached the interview and 61 were selected: 6.6% of full proposals. Of the companies interviewed, about half were selected.
Three things help when reading that number:
- It starts at the full proposal. Companies that did not get past the short proposal are not in it, so the chance counted from the very first step is lower.
- The interview is designed to be selective. The Work Programme says the EIC invites proposals asking for about 2.5 times the available grant budget to the interview.
- Newer rounds are reported differently. For the January and March 2026 cut-offs together, the EIC reported 38 companies selected out of 87 interviewed. It did not publish how many full proposals came in, so no rate can be calculated for those cut-offs.

How long from cut-off to money?
Several months. According to the EIC's timetable, full-proposal results come about 8 to 9 weeks after evaluation starts, interviews follow, and their result comes 2 to 3 weeks later. For the October 2025 cut-off, interviews were held on 19 and 23 January 2026, and the 61 selected companies were announced on 17 February 2026.
After selection, a grant needs a grant agreement. An investment needs due diligence by the EIC Fund, which the Work Programme puts at about 2 to 6 months after selection. That means an EIC application runs alongside the time between private rounds, which is explained in how long after a seed round companies raise a Series A.

Where the EIC fits in a move to Europe
The EIC is the largest and most selective of the equity-free sources open to a young technology company in Europe. The Dutch options that sit next to it, from tax credits to regional funds, are mapped in which government grants a startup can get in the Netherlands. Why this kind of money usually comes before a funding round is explained in Equity-free money first.
